New Lightweight EN B wing coming soon - meet the UP Lhotse!

We have been hinting as much for a while now, but now it is official; there's another EN B wing coming soon, from the glider forges here at UP. It is a mid-level EN B glider, based on the equally brand-new Kibo. The new wing sits somewhere between the Kibo and the Summit XC3 in the UP range.
Clever reductions all over have made it possible to build a wing which weighs around 3.5kgs in the M size, while still being durable and strong enough for everyday use. We consider this new baby the ideal traveller's companion as well as a great Hike'n Fly tool, with its high passive safety, sporty handling and very good performance numbers. There'll be more soon!

Kibo certification completed in most sizes

The DHV has promised us that the test report for the M size will be Online before Easter - once published you may find it here. The L size is also done, and SM will be flight tested next week. The first batch of M size production wings arrive next week too, with L and SM following in mid-April. This means now is the time to make sure you place the orders for your demo wings, so your clients can be testing their new wings in time for the upcoming season!

Makalu 4 now certified in SM and L sizes too!

Our industrious R&D crew, headed by Franta Pavlousek, have also been busy geting the remaining sizes of our new basic intermediate wing, the Makalu 4, ready for certification. Recently the sizes SM and L have been completed, meaning only the XS and S are still pending. The Makalu 4 sits right above the Ascent 3 in our model range, and is a great choice for the talented and ambitious beginner straight out of school - for such a pilot it will be the ideal companion to progress on in the greatest possible safety, while offering ample performance to satisfy even the most ambitious early goals. The button below takes you straight to the Makalu 4 product pages on the UP website, where you may find all the details about this great new wing.

UP Parasleeve #2 now ready

All recent UP wings are built with either FSS or both FSS and RSS (Front Section Support system and Rear Section Support system, respectively), the thin Nylon battens which maintain the leading edge shape and, in the higher-rated wings, helps distribute the C-line loads onto the whole aerofoil. While these rods are very durable, they do like it when you pack the glider carefully in accordion style. The brand-new UP Parasleeve makes it even easier to do just that,

Absolute performance figures, and why we don't do them - new article on the UP website

At our recent Distributor Meeting in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the question about supplying "real" performance figures for media and the market in general came up again. Franta patiently explained why we can't and won't do that, and we took his thoughts on the matter and condensed them into a new R&D article for the website. Find it by clicking below:
